I agree.
However, I think the reason why Twilight is so popular today, is not so much that it's about vampires (which has been done many many times in the past going all the way back to silent films), but that it's the first time you had a teen-aged vampire falling in love with a human where the vampire did his best not to act like a vampire. That is what is unique about the books/movies. Other than that, I would consider Twilight to be the "diet coke" of vampire stories. Although I enjoyed reading the twilight books, the movies were not so good, and I think the Underworld series is a much better vampire series - but that is just my own taste/opinion. |
